If you have a sharp eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for mentoring others, this is your opportunity to thrive without the constraints of a traditional office. In this role, you’ll lead tax compliance and financial reporting for a diverse client portfolio, help shape internal best practices, and support the growth of junior team members—all while enjoying the flexibility and autonomy of remote work. Be part of a forward-thinking accounting practice that values results, collaboration, and work-life balance.
Your Client:
Join a growing, tech-driven accounting firm known for its hands-on approach and high-quality service. With a close-knit team, fully Xero-based systems, and a supportive leadership style, your client offers a collaborative environment where your expertise can truly make an impact.
To be successful in this role, you must have experience with the following:
At least 5 years of experience working in Australian Public Practice.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA qualification preferred).
Proven experience reviewing financial reports and tax returns, including Business Activity Statements, Financial Statements, and Income Tax Returns.
Strong working knowledge of GST, CGT, SGC, FBT, PSI, and Division 7A compliance and advisory.
Demonstrated ability to review and mentor junior staff, ensuring quality and technical accuracy.
Proficient in Xero and Xero Practice Manager (XPM) for end-to-end accounting and practice management.
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and deliver client-focused insights.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a confident and clear advisory style.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple client deadlines.
Some of the activities you will be involved in will include:
Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), Financial Statements, and Income Tax Returns for a diverse client base.
Conduct in-depth analysis of financial reports to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for client advisory.
Provide technical review and quality assurance of work completed by junior staff, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment.
Advise clients on complex tax issues including GST, CGT, SGC, FBT, PSI, and Division 7A, delivering clear and actionable guidance.
Work closely with the Director to manage client relationships, improve processes, and contribute to business growth initiatives.
Leverage Xero and Xero Practice Manager (XPM) to streamline workflow, maintain accurate records, and enhance productivity.
Ensure all deliverables meet established deadlines and quality standards.
Contribute to the ongoing development of internal standards, processes, and documentation.
Stay current with Australian tax legislation and industry best practices to ensure compliance and provide informed advice.
