We’re looking for a highly skilled and independent Senior Electrical / Renewable Energy Engineer to join our client’s renewable energy team. This is a full-time, remote role where you’ll play a key part in delivering utility-scale Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Australia. Join a leading renewable energy engineering contractor specializing in utility-scale solar and BESS projects across Australia and the APAC region. You’ll be part of a collaborative team delivering innovative, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions while supporting the country’s transition to net-zero energy.

To be successful in this role, you must have experience with the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer with valid PRC license number and ID.

• 7–10 years of electrical engineering experience, including 3+ years on Australian renewable energy projects.

• Proven experience in utility-scale Solar Farm or BESS projects, including DC to MV detailed design.

• Hands-on experience performing power system and protection studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination) using tools like DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or CYME.

• Experience with cable thermal modelling using CYMCAP and trench/underground reticulation design.

• Knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008) and grid connection requirements.

• Strong communication skills for collaboration with remote teams and international stakeholders.

• Ability to mentor junior engineers and participate in technical discussions.

• Applications without Australian utility-scale experience will not be considered.

  
  

Some of the activities you will be involved in will include:

• Leading detailed electrical design for Solar Farm and BESS projects, including PV strings, inverter stations, LV AC and MV reticulation.

• Performing power system studies, protection coordination, and relay settings calculations.

• Conducting cable sizing and thermal modelling for DC, LV, and MV systems using CYMCAP.

• Designing and reviewing substation layouts, MV switchgear, and transformer specifications.

• Preparing electrical drawings, SLDs, calculations, and technical documentation in compliance with Australian standards.

• Designing cable trenches and underground reticulation, coordinating with civil and structural teams.

• Acting as a technical lead, reviewing work and mentoring junior engineers, while liaising with project stakeholders.
